Evidence-Backed Verification™ evaluates the available evidence presented through approved verification pathways. It does not constitute a legal finding, judicial determination, or guarantee of historical completeness.

Verification is not one thing. Employment verification confirms employment. Licensing verification confirms a license. Educational verification confirms a degree. Background verification confirms the absence of disqualifying records. Each answers a different question, and each is governed by different authorities, different rules, and different limitations.
None of them answers the question that many professionals most need answered: what did I accomplish, and where is the evidence?
This is the gap the professional evidence layer addresses. It is not a replacement for employment verification, licensing authorities, educational institutions, government repositories, or background investigations. It is a separate layer that documents the evidence behind professional claims and attestations — the accomplishments, contributions, recognition, innovations, and milestones that define a career but often do not survive in a form a reviewer can locate.
The distinction matters because the layers are frequently confused. A professional who submits evidence to an evidence registry has not been background-checked. A member whose record carries a review status has not been licensed. A submitted item is not an independent verification merely because it was uploaded. The registry preserves these distinctions deliberately, because blurring them would make the record less trustworthy, not more.
The professional evidence layer also addresses a problem that the other layers were not designed to solve. Employment verification is anchored to an employer. Licensing is anchored to an authority. Education is anchored to an institution. A professional's accomplishments, however, often span multiple employers, multiple roles, and multiple phases of a career. An evidence registry lets the member assemble the documentation behind those accomplishments in one authorized location, independent of any single organization.
This is particularly relevant for professionals whose careers do not fit neatly inside a single employer record. Consultants whose work spans many clients. Founders whose milestones predate formal structures. Military professionals whose collateral duties never appeared in service records. Speakers whose appearances were never systematically documented. Executives whose most significant contributions were never publicly announced. For these professionals, the evidence layer is not redundant with existing verification. It fills a gap the other layers leave open.
The infrastructure is built around member control. The member decides what to document. The member decides what is visible. The member authorizes who may locate the record, typically through a Credence identifier (VAN™). Private evidence is never exposed. Records are not discoverable merely because someone knows a name. The reviewer sees what the member authorized — no more.
A different kind of verification does not mean a lesser kind. It means a layer that answers a different question, serves a different need, and complements the verification systems that already exist. The professionals who use it are building a record that stands alongside their employment, licensing, and education records — and that preserves what those records were never designed to capture.
Employment verification confirms where you worked. The professional evidence layer documents what you accomplished. A complete career record needs both.
